I’m writing to let you know about a change coming to our opinion pages. We are going to be writing every day in support and defense of two pillars: personal liberties and free markets. We’ll cover other topics too of course
Man where were all these "suddenly-based" people in the last decade

One hypothesis is that they're political chameleons... they felt the political winds changing and are moving with them.
Another hypothesis is that they were much more free-market and libertarian all along, but were willing to give DEI/the wokies a chance, (or didn't want to rock the boat given that the young staff are predominantly woke), ... but finally decided that enough is enough.
There may be an element of both. Even within the university, I can certainly sense that more and more people are getting fed up with the wokies, having nothing to do with national politics.

Holy Shit! My liberal DC friends are going to be apoplectic. There will be much gnashing of teeth and rending of garments.

Do you think "personal liberties and free markets" is an euphemism for being partisan republican?
Because the new administrations pet issue of tariffs is very anti-free market. And it is in Bezos and Amazons best interest to oppose tariffs in the name of free markets.

I agree 100%. That remains to be seen. Embracing maga is not embracing freedom in many areas. You also have to distinguish between conventional republican party opinions and maga.

They are just going with the momentum of the Trump MAGA wave. Just like they played along during COVID and 9/11.
They stand on no principles

I’m confident that free markets and personal liberties are right for America. I also believe these viewpoints are underserved in the current market of ideas and news opinion.
Fuck. YES!
