I mean... the so called coverup... who is responsible for this? Surely not "our sacred" journalists. I mean... how could that be if it were true?
I don't expect people that fell for it to become republicans, libertarians, or even independents but it is hard to square how they could trust the same news outlets that lied to them. Then again... look at Covid. People are so blind they don't even know they are blind.

I've never understood this either. When Democrats ask me why I don't trust the NYT and I respond "They lied us into the Iraq War"... blank out.
reply
No kidding...
They lied about Biden They lied about Covid They lied us into Iraq They lied about the Soviet Union

I have no doubt there are many many more examples. The issue is not that they are biased. The issue is that people believe them. ALL NEWS IS BIASED. It blows my mind that people do not get this.
reply
Bias means your errors are not randomly distributed. Even those of us who try to be honest are biased.
It's easy enough to pick up on people's biases. As long as they're trying to tell the truth, I'm generally fine with it.
reply
Exactly. The issue is positioning yourself as NOT biased and of course LYING!
Could we get journalists that don't LIE? Is that asking to much?
reply
I always say Iraq, because every Democrat my age or older acknowledges that point and they know the NYT never owned up to the part they played in causing that war.

Who has owned up to that? I'm not aware of many at all. I have... but that's because I voted for Bush and wasn't awake yet.
reply
That's my point. When I bring up Iraq, they know the rational thing to do is not trust the NYT, but they can't acknowledge that either.
