I've really enjoyed these two months running ~econ. It crystallized that what I most enjoy is reading and commenting. Thankfully, our excellent contributors are giving me ample opportunities.

Metrics

  • Stacking: 3rd place - 149.6k
  • Revenue: 6th place - 59.4k
We're still over the breakeven point, but revenue was down from last month (still above the month before I took over, though). That means the new posting fee will be 81 sats, which is halfway back to the previous 108.

Contest Ideas

Last month, I asked what people thought the best use of previously donated sats was and funding a contest seemed to get the best response.
I'd like to try out a quarterly contest. The prize pool will be whatever sats have been earned, above the breakeven point, until the donated sats have all been paid out.
I'm not sure if this will be a winner-takes-all thing or a top 3. I also don't want to completely defer to zaprank, so what I'll do is list the top 10 posts by zaprank and have people vote on the best post.
Let me know what you think (including if this is an acceptable use of your donations, for those who made donations).
How is the stress managing the territory? Are you liking it so far?
reply
I'm enjoying it immensely. I had less time this past month than I would have liked, but I'm sure I'll come up with more free time soon.
reply
So, which one are you liking more? Econ or sports? Lol Or has sports slowed down because football season is over?
reply
I enjoy comanaging sports more than solo managing econ. ~Stacker_Sports is much more developed than ~econ.
reply
That means you need to drum up support on econ. It has a wide range where lots of topics can be discussed under. Or maybe you want to get a comanager?
reply
I think ~econ's doing ok just being on autopilot. We have more consistent contributions from non-owners than sports does and have pretty good discussions (although that's what I dropped the ball on recently).
Sports also has more momentum and I think it's smart to keep building on that, while we can.
Not too shabby. I will return with my Canadian Econ hot takes once we have installed a new WEF puppet as PM.

That's a real cheat code you get to take advantage of.

Could almost do like the rewards and like @Coinsreporter said so the top ten say get a split of the pool
reply
Great idea for the contest. Why not equally or in a descending order distribute the sats to more Stackers? I'd also suggest you reward the top comments.
reply
Good idea, I'll take a look at top comments and see if that makes sense.
I'm thinking I might split the pot in proportion to the voting outcome.

Your territory is one of the most important and informative. I learn a lot each day. Thanks for running it!

The numbers in relation to the other territories seem good and the new posting rate is attractive.
Regarding the contest, depending on the theme, a prize is awarded to the top 3 and the income comes from donations, since interaction in the territory is only possible thanks to them.
reply
So, the previous owner of ~econ crowdfunded the territory rent, with the promise that those funds would be used for something good once the territory became profitable.
I promised to honor that pledge when he handed the territory over, two months ago.
Once we exhaust those donated funds (most of which were from me anyway), I'll think about how to sustainably fund the contest, assuming people enjoy it.

Congrats! Glad to see there's some surplus

I bet you are
