The order would establish a national language for the first time in U.S. history.
Surprised to note that US never had an official language.
We in India have 22 official languages! I've at least lived in the 2 regions where my native language isn't generally spoken but I've not felt a bit of discrimination on the basis of language difference.
Yet....in the previous efforts to make English an official language for US.
Those who have opposed those efforts say that the country does not need an official language, pointing to the high numbers of people who speak it and to the country never having one, while also saying establishing one could promote discrimination against non-English speakers.
I don't think it changes anything in the US or does it?
How crazy, I swore that only English was spoken in the United States and that's it, well that's what I thought and I come from South America.
