The whole thing was such a clusterfuck. From reading thru the exchanges, there are lots of points where I sympathize with Zelenskyy.
But, he really really should've just reigned himself in. Its unclear why he even came....JD I think correctly pointed out to Z that "you are suddenly now trying to litigate this in front of the press"
From what I gather, Z suddenly changed terms on 2 key parts once the camera were rolling:
-
Wanted security guarantee that included US presence in Ukraine (hmmm....that sounds like you want to be part of NATO?!?)
-
In his final outburst, Z said basically that "Putin will never adhere to whatever we agree to here" (hmmmm....well why are you here? it sounds like you don't want peace negotiations and are committed to further conflict)
Evidently both teams had agreed to terms, enough so that they had binders prepared and were going to sign in the next room in front of the cameras, then the blow out came.
As I said, I honestly do have some sympathy for Z, but in the end it was just a really poor decision or poor self control.....
2): Wtf man, of course Putin would break any "Vow" that'd be made "with the USA".
Why? Because who fuckin' cares if it's Ukraine-controlled resources or Russian-controlled?
All Trump cares about is deals, that's it. He'll get the resources one way or the other. He's not somebody that should be in the position of POTUS.
He's a businessman trying to hunt short-term deals which will most certainly blow out some American- and Global joints sooner or later, it's pathetic that we've come to this point.
The only possible way I see Putin stop at the current lines, is either a European or American-European-Mix of troops IN Ukraine BEHIND a demilitarized zone - think South-North Korea.
He was grandstanding for the Eurocratic media

The picture of the Ukraine ambassador to USA holding her head in disbelief says it all

Point 2 is actually a good one.

If a burglar broke into your house repeatedly (after promising not to) raped your women and family, shot your dog, and threatened to kick you out of your 'own home' "for your own good" because "you started the war"...
What would you do? Because that is basically the Ukraine situation right now.

Your analog is basically wrong on every level

He was invited, I assume.
