Yes, it's one of many, and the first one to really make sense. Podcasts are already run on open standards (RSS), and podcasters typically have to reach scale before advertisers are willing to pay them... Lightning lets them earn from day one directly from their biggest fans. Podcasting also has no social element (native comments/feedback), and that's something Lightning enables too.
And to echo @k00b, there is a lot of space for experimenting with different ways to move money between creators and consumers on the internet.

+1 to all that, and it's just the beginning of the beginning.

Oscar here from Fountain - I'm obviously biased but I think so - there's so much more we can do.
If you've tried out Fountain and have feedback please do share! :)

I just downloaded Fountain app (https://www.fountain.fm/) today. I like it. We will see a lot of new use cases with lightning in the near future!

I've been using Fountain a lot and really enjoy knowing I'm supporting podcasters I like. There's definitely something there, but I'd guess we've only explored like 10% of the potential of how micropayments will interact with content.

Yeah i am inclined to say that it is not a killer app how it works now. I just think streaming micropayments as you listen is something people won’t like.
In terms of instant payments, i think live stream use cases make a lot more sense and play to lightning’s strengths #9016
