Well the NHL trade deadline has come and gone and Buffalo has traded Dylan Cozens.
I can’t remember the first time I heard of Cozens but I remember when I fell in love with his on ice play. It was when he stripped the puck from potential hall of famer Patrice Bergeron and scored on a breakaway in over time
With the nickname “The Workhorse from Whitehorse” I loved how he attacked the ice. Big shifty and a nice pair of hands. He had all the tools to be a great #2 center in the NHL.
His 31 goal campaign two seasons ago I thought put him on the map. My fandom was so great for Cozens that I would always take a prop bet for him to score every singe game.
But clearly it wasn’t to be. A lot of Buffalo fans are wondering what happened to the “Workhorse from Whitehorse”? Some say he lost his edge when he got into a fight and the guy broke his nose. Others say it was a system change and since he’s not elite at anything the real Cozens has now shown up. Who really knows?
Overall, I think this trade was the right thing to do. Cozens is making +$7M and playing well below expectations. He’s only 24 so he could still turn out to be a good player but probably not the talent Buffalo needs now to end this ridiculous 14 year playoff drought.
Farewell Dylan. Wishing you the best! Take it easy on us when we play.

No matter how good/very good a hockey player you are, if you are "not there" in your head, it doesn't matter.
