Under all circumstances, Bastiat's seen vs unseen is important to keep in mind, but the existence of unseen costs does not imply net negativity.

If all we get are the tariffs, then I'm confident it will be a net negative. However, if tariffs are part of broader tax reform that reduces current taxes, then I'll be very open-minded.

He's not arguing tariffs are good. The point is that they have a bunch of negative consequences that their supporters might overlook, because they aren't easy to observe.

I don't know much about economics , Can you explain how's that's a good idea ?
