As was already posted here a couple of days ago we have two MLB teams currently playing at minor league parks. Tampa Bay had an awful stadium the Trop was terrible itself then add in its location and yeah you were not going to do well with a team there. However, he is now going down the path that John Fisher took the A's down and that has to be stopped at all costs.
Rumors the last few days have talked about Manfred and other owners putting pressure on Sternberg to sell the team and this will only super charge it. The Yankees... cant believe I am saying this.... were nice and are letting the Rays use their single A minor league park for free and they play in the same division. It would be different if Sternberg wasnt asking for a metric boat load of public money but he is and the reason why this isnt moving forward is because he doesnt have the minimum amount of money he was contractually obligated to have.
His stadium or the one he wanted was going to cost $1.3 billion and he wanted $600 million in taxpayer money. They gave him that as long as he could show he had the other $700 million by March 31st but due to "Financing delays" he pulled the plug. He isnt a native TB person and didnt even move there until 2019 even though he has owned the team since 2005. The Rays and the city shouldnt be punished for a guy that couldnt come up with the money he agreed to and more importantly the guy who is going to try to move the team to a city like Nashville.
He only cares about the dollar bills not the money and hell he doesnt even have the money it seems to make it happen.
