The race for quantum supremacy is not a short-distance race; it’s a marathon, and in any marathon, there are lots of twists and turns. Now, we get to witness another twist: China is making a massive leap in the quantum world. Its top scientists have built a new quantum chip called Zuchongzhi-3. This chip has 105 qubits and runs at speeds far beyond any known supercomputer. It works one quadrillion times faster than the best classic chip in the world. The University of Science and Tech of China (USTC) team says it is the best in its class.
