Interesting question. First thing that comes to mind is that because nostr is a grass-roots, decentralized movement without huge investors or money piling in, it will take some time for nostr to grow. Like bitcoin, it will be a slow, multi-year process, but slow and steady wins the race.
In relation to another question, I also believe using a private key and extensions is very difficult for adoption, and think that is probably the largest barrier.. Ideally we have a way to use passwords and a way for people to not have to manage their private keys, if they don't want to.
