The Los Angeles Dodgers have started the 2025 MLB season 2-0 as they defeated the Chicago Cubs in both games of the MLB opening Tokyo series.

The Dodgers are defending champs and overwhelming favourites to repeat but how good are they? Are they record setting good?

In 2001 the Seattle Mariners won an MLB record 116 games. In 2022 the Dodgers flirted with that record but ultimately didn't come that close winning 111. This Dodgers team is even better but they already have some injury issues and it's hard to imagine that setting the MLB win record is a goal.

The Dodgers division is pretty good. The DBacks and Padres are good teams, the Giants always seem to put a decent team on the field and the Rockies, well they are perennially terrible. There are also other very good teams in the National League like the Braves, Mets and Phillies.

A 116 win season seems high unlikely but if the Dodgers stay healthy and everyone produces at their expected level I think it is on the table. Although unlikely, it would be cool to have the single season loss record broken in 2024 (by the White Sox) and then have the single season win record broken in 2025.
