We risk making the same mistake that the DEI people made... which is take something that a lot of people agreed with (diversity, etc.) and take it way too far.

This is why when it comes to some of the crazy DEI stories on the other side (e.g. guy fired because he's white, etc), I try to wait for more context. Sometimes it was honestly just a mistake, or at other times there are other factors to make the story less crazy than it sounds at first.
