Interesting do they get sacked often?
Very rarely. It's catastrophic to let that happen, so teams go all out on blocking for those plays. There are also fairly severe penalties for hitting the kicker after the ball is away, unless the kick is blocked first.

I'm guessing that I'll gravitate towards favorite players before I settle on a team, but we'll see.
I don't even really have a favorite NBA team and that's the sport I follow the most.
