pull down to refresh

OK, this Big Read piece is pretty retarded, and compleeeetely lacking self-perception or ability to step outside one's own media/intellegentzia bubble (#890832, #907759).
hardly anyone bothers to examine American businesspeople’s support for Trump, because the presumption is that it’s driven by hardheaded economic self-interest. Their calculation must be that his promised tax cuts and deregulation will enrich both them and the US. '
I suspect that businesspeople embraced a businessman largely from cultural kinship. Trump dresses in their style. His amoral language, so offensive to liberals, appeals to businesspeople because it signals that he’ll prioritise profits over any airy-fairy considerations.
"businesspeople," obviously being a single unit, just wanted one crude thing: profits. And they knew Trump was good for profits (?!). a) nobody could/can forecast which Trump policies will happen b) nobody could/can predict what which actually-implemented Trump policy will result in c) the evidence from political science is pretty clear: people do not vote their pocketbook!
Plus, while a bunch of ranting and liberal-media/intelligentsia talking point shit, we don't get an answer to the question of the article. WTH?

So maybe, dear editors at FT, just throw this lousy piece out??

...and knock me over with a feather:
There’s a common belief in corporate America that what’s good for the rich is also good for business, the economy and the US in general. Exhibits A and B are tax cuts and deregulation. However, low-tax Mexico and Turkey are, bafflingly, poorer than high-tax Nordic countries.
I will admit: this was pretty insightful.
Obama once described himself as “a Rorschach Test”, meaning that everyone saw in him what they wanted. That’s also true of Trump.

It's pretty easy to read into Trump whatever you want, since he often takes both sides of an issue, as he aimlessly meanders around trying to figure out what people want to hear. To be fair, that was more of a first term issue.
"Why did business people back Trump?" Same answer as why most people backed Trump: "Because, 'Fuck you' is why."
Trump is the biggest middle finger voters could find.

Bc fuck you!, yeah that's right

That's my answer and I never even supported him.
