WHOOP WHOOP not going to lie adding another Houston based billionaire to the reasons why Houston should get an NHL team is fantastic. Plus the league is going to love that this guy has experience in the sports ownership space and on a bigger level than most other billionaires could offer!
Dan Friedkin, who is the CEO of the Houston-based The Freidkin Group, has begun his foray into professional sports ownership over the last several years. In 2020, the company bought the Italian Serie A club AS Roma. In 2024, TFG became majority owners of the English Premier League club Everton. Earlier this month, TFG helped secure £350 million in funding for a new stadium for Everton.
According to reports, the TFG was also considering a bid for the Boston Celtics of the NBA, which sold on Thursday for a record $6.1 billion.
So I would like to thank the Celtics for being so expensive that he is pivoting to a Houston NHL team! If he had gotten the Celtics I do not think he would have attempted the Houston NHL team!
It wouldnt surprise me at all if another team ends up struggling like AZ did or have stadium issues that Houston could be good to go. The Toyota Center which the Houston Rockets owner Tilman Fertitta owns was designed as a duel use when we still had the AHL Aeros. Any upgrades Fertitta has said before he would approve and pay for.
Great another team that will come in and beat the Sabres. Just what I need

Do you think Houston will be a good hockey market? It has done well in Dallas.
