Share of consumers who say they expect more unemployment in the next 12 months
The unemployment rate is pretty low at the moment, but under the hood Americans sure are nervous about the job market.
Why it matters: Add rising job anxiety to the growing list of soft economic indicators that may be signaling trouble ahead.
Wow! That's really high.

I'm more surprised to see how the lowest came in Biden time!

It's hard to expect more unemployment when the government has shut down most of the economy already.

It's about job anxiety which should be more when the government has shut down most of the economy already.

The title says it's about expecting more unemployment over the next year. That's hard to do when everyone's unemployed already.

I see Biden left everyone employed so Trump's been laying off.
I'm now sure that you're a full time republican 😉 and that's your job 😜

Look at the timing of that low point. Do you think it was unrelated to covid lockdowns?
Why are you so defensive about the Democrats? Also, it was under Trump that the economy was initially shut down, so maybe you should recalibrate who you think I'm criticizing.

Not defending them for sure. I've no affiliation to the Dems nor to the reps. Just trying reciprocate things as Trump isn't liked by anyone outside USA (for now) for he just keeps threatening everyone with tariffs.
And you're right that came about Covid but that was good, please read the chart again. The highest is the anxiety, the worse environment it represents for employment. The lower it is, the best environment for employment it represents.
So it seems the current environment for jobs isn't looking good but it was better even in the Covid times. Now am I missing something?
give it another 3 years 🙀

anxiety is higher since, for the first time, we went, "What is it that you do around here?" :-)
