I read today that in 1988, Wade Boggs had more doubles (45) than swing and misses (41). I had to read this twice as it seemed so insane.

I’d love to hear some stats that broke your brain.

FYI Boggs had 719 plate appearances that year and finished with an 8.3 WAR

I used to love playing with Wade Boggs on the Tampa Ray Devil Rays on All Star baseball on N64

Boggs is a legend. I don’t think many remember him for his days with the devil rays though.

Cricket has a coin toss before the game begins. It's often very important and the decision taken by the winning captain impacts the outcome of the come.

Recently India captain Rohit Sharma lost his 12th consecutive toss, a record, but more surprisingly india still won the Champions trophy without losing a single match.

reply

That’s quite a streak on a 50/50.

In the finals of T20 Rohit was so frustrated after losing it that he said, "It's meaningless for me to come and flip the coin, I'm destined to lose it."

He jokingly asked the captain not to go for the toss and just tel him whatever they decided, either bat or bowl first.

Cal Ripken Jr has that crazy stat of so many consecutive game starts

reply

One day we will cover unbeatable records on the pod. That will definitely be one.

Chris Dudley missed 13 consecutive free throws in one game.

The throw was free but the point definitely wasn't.

I am pretty sure I could miss 13 in a row but I am not an NBA player.

reply

"I'm closer to Lebron than Chris Dudley is to me"

Yeah I have no misconceptions of being in the same galaxy as either.

Oof.

The pace that Kipchoge ran the sub two hour marathon!

He finished in 1:59:40, holding a sub-4:34 pace for the 26.2 miles.
