Interesting. Will be interesting to see if the Germans and British and Poles get nukes too.
My understanding is that the French have them, the British sort of do (they have nuclear submarines SSNs) so why not the Germans too my understanding is that Germany is spending the most (?) on rearmament anyway.

I believe there were anti proliferation agreements signed after that first small group of countries acquired nukes. Obviously, a few countries outside the west either weren't party to those agreements or just disregarded them.
The answer at present is probably something like "Because the currently nuclear armed nations don't want anyone else joining the club."
Also, I thought the Brits had nukes. I remember something about that from the Scottish Independence referendum.

The United Kingdom is the only nuclear weapon state that operates a posture with a single deterrence system (Table 1).

According to the article... no. There are a number of sources on this I just did a quick google search but it makes sense.
The SSBNs park off the coast (or maybe somewhere in the North Atlantic) and just stay submerged for months at a time and wait - should that unfortunate day come when they're needed.
