I would like to revisit this topic because:
- I work in the field of culture
- I want to contribute some of my knowledge to Stacker.news
I will share my perspective. When does cultural change occur? It happens when a cultural practice is performed and repeated enough times to become part of everyday life.
For example, take the culture of waste sorting. In the past, people in my area didn’t have the habit of separating waste. But after just four months of running a campaign, the community became aware and proactive in sorting their waste.
I summarize the campaign roadmap based on the following elements:
-
Emotional element: We organized environmental contests and volunteer clean-up events at polluted areas like ponds, rivers, and lakes. These volunteer efforts were shared widely through media to inspire others.
-
Technical element: We provided education and partially supplied equipment to help people learn how to sort waste.
-
Practical element: We installed waste-sorting stations and bins in public spaces. We created neighborhood competitions to evaluate waste-sorting efforts and rewarded areas that performed well.
-
Symbolic element: We introduced a mascot – Dorakiki, a cartoon cat with a magical bag that turns trash into gold. The story and image of Dorakiki were promoted widely throughout the community.
