I was looking at Bitcoin Magazine's store page for The Satoshi Papers (shout out to @denlillaapan for the link) and saw that they had an option to pay in installments with Afterpay:
I was a bit surprised because I thought this was something most Bitcoiners would have a negative reaction against.1 But who am I to tell people what to do with their money?
So I was wondering if anyone here has used BNPL (buy now pay later). Under what circumstances, and what was your experience like?

Footnotes

  1. I also wondered if it's just built into whatever e-commerce solution they use to power their website
Do I know anyone who has used it? Yes, she’s my wife! She is also available for 4 easy payments. Comes with budget-destroying karate-chop action.
I also have a friend who historically has been bad with money and has also used it. In this case both of these people are over 40, however my understanding is that most people who use it are younger, 18-35 or so, looks like there is some research out there on this which an AI can unearth easily enough.
For my part I do not love them, they may be helpful for some people but as a symptom I do not like how warmly they have been embraced.

I would image it's what you say in your footnote — built into the e-commerce software

It's not, Afterpay is a third party gateway on that particular platform.

Mmmm... I'm really fascinated by who the marginal BNPL customer is. Who's financing a $40 purchase? (Am I being elitist here??)
I suppose if it's interest free I can make a marginal return on that $40 until it gets paid off...
