JFK is a 1991 American epic political thriller film written and directed by Oliver Stone. The film examines the investigation into the assassination of John F. Kennedy by New Orleans district attorney Jim Garrison, who came to believe there was a conspiracy to assassinate Kennedy and that Lee Harvey Oswald was a scapegoat.
I highly recommend watching this 3 ½ hour opus, especially with all the JFK documents being released. One thing that struck me is that if it weren’t for one man—Jim Garrison—the American public may never have even considered the possibility that our own government had a hand in covering up or even orchestrating Kennedy’s assassination.
The film culminates in a powerful courtroom scene, reminiscent of Citizen Kane, that left me deeply unsettled. I had never seen this Oliver Stone film until this past weekend, and I must say, after watching it, I can’t fathom how anyone could, in good conscience, serve in the CIA. It’s chilling to think that an agency tasked with protecting the nation may have had a role in killing its own president. Just further proof of how fiat has ruined our institutions of trust.
“The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it.” (John 1:5)
Interesting fact was because of the impact this film had, all the JFK documents were originally set to be released in 2029. Trump got it released 4 years earlier.
In short, "The 90s was a decade of great films. And this film led the charge."
