Howdy Parents,
I hope kids are making your life as much miserable as they can. I thought I'd escape the blows (joys) of parenthood because I live in a combined family but it has actually doubled my joy (blows) of seeing everyone happier than ever before ....
Without making it a very long about how good I feel living in a big, very big, typical indian family, let me share with you what's actually goin' on.
Needless to say kids are naughty, but she's hardly 5 months old and she's already reading the newspaper.
I'm not lying, you can see
This is the first thing she wants in the morning like a learned man or woman does. My mother says she is my 'Dadi' (grandmother) who loved to read newspaper all day and word by word. FYI, in Hindus reincarnation/rebirth is a very normal phenomenon. So, I and my whole family calls her 'Amma' (Granny), my mother even take her blessings like she used to take from my granny.
For an educated person it's hard to believe but doubts creep in (sometimes) when your daughter looks pretty similar to your granny. Then you realise she's not similar but she has to be granny because you're also your granny's. I see my granny in my daughter.
Sorry If I made you emotional or reminded you of your sweet granny.
Oh my, I went along with my thoughts. I forgot I wanted to ask for help, I mean suggestions for what should I do to stop her reading the newspaper? Did it also happen with you or still happening? Do you feel helpless because kids are way too much headstrong?
We've always given our daughter the junk mail. She loves reading the catalogues, credit card offers, and political flyers.
She strongly takes after her grandma (my wife's mom) in behavior, but she looks a fair amount like my grandma (who recently passed away). You'll see lots of different family resemblances.

Thanks. That's a good suggestion. I'll try it, she doesn't like phones though and she's too young. She just wants a newspaper for now. It's good she doesn't eat it.
My daughter resembles to my grandmother way too much as of now. Maybe she'll start resembling someone else with time.

what should I do to stop her reading the newspaper?
Give her a tablet with only YouTube to become a true "visual learner" that will never touch a book ever again. Its the modern way.

I'm afraid her mom has already been giving her this medicine behind my eyes.
You're right that's the modern medicine but I don't think kids learn way too much by youtube, not before they are 5 or 6 years old.

Personally I'm way too old school for this tho. I'd recommend reading it to her. All of it.

As long as she doesn’t stuff the newspapers into her mouth, I would say you are good!
I get what you mean. My daughter reminds me of my mum. It’s a nice thought - that my mum could be reborn as my daughter.
Sounds like you have unlocked a new layer of humour in your responses!

Hahaha! Cute!!!!! Mine has started writing gibberish! people say she has a firm grip.
Anyways, if i were you, i wouldn't give her the papers because of the ink they sue to print, its not good for health if she sucks on it or chews the paper.
