  • The richest 10% of Americans on average earn more daily (Int$156 per person) than similar groups worldwide
  • They also make nearly 7x more than the bottom 10% of Americans.
  • Yet, the bottom 10% in the U.S. earn more than the top 10% in many countries, including Indonesia, Egypt, and India.
  • Luxembourg’s richest 10% (not visualized) out-earn Americans on a per capita basis, the only country to do so.
  • The top 10% in the U.S., is about 34 million individuals, compared to India and China’s 140 million individuals.
This chart is interesting and confirms some things I've thought. The poorest in the US are 10x+ better off than those in the poorest countries. Kinda seems like free markets help everyone but obviously everyone doesn't capitalize on it equally. This shouldn't be a surprise. Much more likely to have more equality in a more poor nation.
One thing it does not do is show the number of people across the margins of income.
