President Donald Trump announced a complete pause on all the “reciprocal” tariffs that went into effect at midnight, with the exception of China.
Tariffs on China will be increased to 125% from 104%, he said.
Trump has really taken the retaliation so seriously but I've come to hear from our neighbour that they will "capitulate on tariffs"
That was quick

I suspected it. The world media will pose Trump as a scared man now. I think the decision came on account of EU and other friend nations also went in retaliation mode.

Doubt it. I think they got scared when 10yr treasury yields started to spike up. Clearly nation states (probably China) were dumping their treasury holdings. They can't afford a big spike in yields. Which is probably why they are still going hard at China in retaliation.

Yupp. That the bigger cause, right. It just went outta my mind.

Mar-a-Lago Accords?

Possible, might need a catalyzing event for that to bring parties together... A blockade in the Pacific to freeze shipping lanes might be part of the plan.

Trump wants interest rate down so he can refinance... China is selling off their treasuries to keep US interest rates high in order to fuck over his plan https://www.marketplace.org/story/2023/11/07/why-is-china-selling-off-its-us-debt-treasurys

Yupp. It's like an MMA bout on where both try to take each other down.

The currency problem cannot be solved without a free float neutral reserve
Just because you can't think strategically more than 5 minutes out doesn't mean the people in charge of the largest economy aren't executing an O-Plan. Details of course unknown, but the directional signaling is obvious.

I mean maybe they are planning on making Bitcoin the global, neutral reserve.
But I thought Trump wanted the dollar to remain the global reserve currency? He said he would tariff any country 100% that tried to get off the Dollar...
So he's just going to allow an alternative even if it's neutral to take over? If countries can just 'buy Bitcoin' why buy Treasuries? How does the US finance its debt?
I'm thinking they just wanted to get foreign nations to dump their US equities that they've been investing their surpluses into.
