Watched half of this so far. Really cool how quick Peterson catches on - a testament to his continued relevance. In a Canadian accent:
What is economics? It's the study of comparative value and money is an index on that value.
@dergigi is killing it. This uniquely grabbed me:
The whole system is probabilistic.
I hadn't really thought about it that way before. Bitcoin counts on the right things eventually happening given the incentives. And your bitcoins are protected by it being unlikely anyone can guess your keys. I guess everything is kind of probabilistic but in decentralized, trustless systems this seems particularly true.
Breedlove also continues to be exceptionally thoughtful despite all the community battles. In my study of Girard and Bitcoin, I've come to similar conclusions about how fiat exacerbates scarcity and conflict and I've long held it's the reason we are experiencing so many cultural issues, e.g. cancel culture. I sat across from him at the Thank God for Bitcoin release dinner and expressed this very thought to @lylepratt.
I'm unfamiliar with the others in the group but definitely plan to check out Hard Money which I wasn't aware of.
