By the news it seems that there's no confirmation from spar about official in store Bitcoin Payments. Rather it's some community driven Bitcoin to fiat payment app that's just established inside one spar store at Zug.
Also Spar uses a franchise model for its store distribution, which makes it possible to one store accept whichever way they choose to. There are a few spar stores which have already been accepting Bitcoin for quite some time. So the owner of this spar store in Zug has established this payment solution which is CRYPTO-TO-FIAT as is mentioned.
This means that everything regarding Spar accepting Bitcoin payments is just exaggerated, misleading and False.
I don't understand why do people want to spread false news. If it's for Bitcoin to Fiat payments, Spar Gift cards has forever been available.
The other day we also had this #945733 which was just a Xweet without a source link. I asked the op for the source but there wasn't any reply, no issues.
But now when I see it spreading through media, I've to step in.
At last I can attest that Spar hasn't officially said that it accept Bitcoin payments, (not even Bitcoin to fiat payments).
To add some validity to
Also Spar uses a franchise model for its store distribution, which makes it possible to one store accept whichever way they choose to.
I've also found an article from 2018 about the same that states.
Spar is the first known shop of a large chain in the Netherlands that accepts Bitcoins. Bitcoiners can load the payment on their mobile phone or tablet. The supermarket has a tablet on which the amount is struck. The buyer takes out his phone and uses the code to make the payment.
Gelder revealed that the store will be processing the payments via a point-of-sale system provided by Dutch firm BitKassa. Also, the supermarket has decided to convert the cryptocurrency into Euros, which are later deposited into their bank account.
