I regularly listen back to Andreas' decade+ old narratives because they're full of gems and opportunities to ask yourself "is this still true?"
For example, early on in this video:
Do we still think that the assertion that the US populace will be the last to use bitcoin (as MoE) holds true today? Personally, I've started to think either Europe or India may ultimately be the last to come. My yet incomplete thoughts:
- A weaker dollar (which is said to be the intent) means that the people need to hedge. It doesn't really matter on which side of the fence you are right now (maga don't like Powell, libs don't like Trump) so you're always not getting what you want for your USD. This means it makes sense to transact in something neither control: sats.
- India and EU/UK are on a path of reinforcing their sovereignty (of their states which is kind of useless to the pleb) which means decreasing liberty and increasing surveillance laws all the time. I also don't see much resistance to this in EU/UK, kinda sad.
- US uncertainty and again a weakening dollar diverts international contract denomination not just to BTC (like for Russian oil in sanction evasion), but also GBP and EUR for the less adventurous.
Thoughts?
PS: I cant help but feel that there is a 2-3 year window in the US now to embed sats as a wider accepted payment method. Maybe longer but that's what i feel is a conservative window of opportunity right now. It would be a shame to let that go to waste?

Same, working my way through them asking the same type of questions.
The US will be the last in line for Bitcoin.
Yes, I do. People with influence in the ecosystem are pushing an entirely different agenda that lines only their interests. This is not adoption, this is faux engineering.
Plebs should do their best to get self-sovereign, get friends, family onboarded to Bitcoin while they still can. We will have to fight for this right in the near future.
