Kalyn Kahler's annual "Prospect X" -- the most overlooked player heading into the draft -- is Montana State QB Tommy Mellott, now drafted by the Raiders. I always enjoy this feature (which was at Sports Illustrated and The Athletic before she moved to ESPN), and this year is no exception.
The hopefuls/folks filled with potential are often the most interesting stories (none of them have Sanders-level egos, for starters), and it's nice to see someone like Christian Elliss (Prospect X a few years ago and a UFA) eventually break through (even if he's with the Pats). I tend to follow these guys like I do Mr. Irrelevant, though none of them have hit the Purdy lottery.
Looking forward to seeing if Mellott can eventually stick.
Me too!
We're hoping he can be our Taysom Hill.
