Have you ever felt like there's just not enough time in the day to get everything done?
Well, you're in luck as social media users over on Reddit have been discussing in recent days. And NASA is at the heart of it.
Dr. Benjamin Fong Chao, a geophysicist at NASA's Goddard Space Flight Center, has stated that China's Three Gorges Dam has actually increased the length of the day.

I never thought about this, but of course holding a large mass of water further from the axis will slow the speed of rotation.

Common now.... It would be too small to have any affect on the mass of the earth. The ocean is like 3x all land mass.

China has now begun an even larger dam construction - 'three times the capacity of the renowned Three Gorges Dam.'

Im still amazed of how they did it and the process itself sounds like too good to be true but they did it anyway. It is just gonna use hella lot of electricity that can satisfy the global human needs for decades. Even though they say that this process will maintain the stability of climate change, i mean it is sonner to jump to conclusion.

Earlier in the article it says days are longer by 0.06 microseconds. Then later the author jokes about what can be done in 0.06 seconds. Those are very different values!

Lazy reporting/editing! It’s 0.06 microseconds!

The Three Gorges Dam is too tiny to have any affect. Is the volume even 1 millionth of the ocean?
