when i am at work, some trainees and assistants are assigned to me. i started making a disclaimer with them that i wish to be addressed by my proper first name, especially if they wish to know what i really think, whereas if they want the professional opinion that could be typed into the official record, they can address me by the official title. i feel like that creates some sort of friendly vibes if not true friendship...
with co-workers of same title status it's not as much of an issue. i really dislike workplace hierarchy.
