Nemtsov, Navalny, Politkovskaya, Litvinenko, Magnitsky, Starovoytova did shit and were killed. Russia's political system is fascism by all definitions of the term.

Through violence only a greater fascist can come to power. I am not saying there is a smart or easy way to resist. I am saying one can leave, die, be jailed or survive and endure. And enduring such life is negative selection, like in the USSR or China. The west is not far behind nowadays.
