The Union of Valencian Journalists has awarded Julian Assange the International 2025 Freedom of Expression Prize for promoting transparency and the public’s right to be informed.
President Vicent Marco said, “In times of darkness, true journalism is the guiding light. As long as that light burns, hope remains.”
Kristinn Hrafnsson, editor of WikiLeaks, who collected the award on Assange’s behalf, stated: “Governments must be held accountable, and we journalists must speak out against injustice and attacks. My thoughts are also with my colleagues in Gaza.”
