We should have it deployed in a month or two. We've had it implemented since late last year. We just need to refactor a bunch of code so it's easier to maintain once it's live.

I have heard this about Phoenix, they support Bolt 12.

We really need broader and deeper Bolt 12 support across the board so people can *finally* post their Bolt-12 QR codes to receive Lightning. Then maybe they will 'get' it...

Phoenix does a background payment with bolt12 on android by sending a notification which wakes up the app to release the secret. This notification method is the best near-term solution for phone "nodes" afaik and is not possible on iOS (way more strict about what notifications can do).

Lots of people assume ecash is the answer otherwise, which depends on very many anon custodians custodying people's pocket change either out of goodwill or to earn money on tx fees. 

Breez is experimenting with using Liquid for this afaict. Although roy has also written about async payments and this notification method before.
