I think it is much easier if you have children, already. Many times, one of you or the other has to do most of the caring, anyway, so why not include the schooling. Teaching is an interesting thing to do because you generally learn more than the students about the subject at hand.

You can always tell a long term partner that you are investing in your future and future retirement. The better educated your children are, the better off you will be.
