Real money has two functions: a medium of exchange AND a store of value. The fear that HODLing is slowing the medium of exchange function is being blind to people's right to what they earn, and being impatient for mass adoption. Its this same impatience that drives people into crazy statist ideas like a currency SHOULD be inflationary, or people's wallets should be stolen from to subsidize mining, more the longer they hold it.

Bitcoin would be nothing without HODLers, and it will do just fine on its own as a medium of exchange as people realize its the only true monetary store if value.
