OK, sports stackers... now that La Liga is done and the Champions League stuff/Stanley Cup is getting there we need new shit (#946762) to throw away out hard-earned sats on. I'm here to help, @mega_dreamer

there's chess coming up, beginning next Monday

Yes, maybe I'm the only one who'll be following this and betting on this, but whaaaatevs. There is a Chess tab on Predyx, and it's very sad...
Here are the Norway Chess 2025 regs. Six players will be playing each other twice in 120 minutes games (with Armageddon games if drawn, to reward more points):
Proposed bets:
  • Winner of the tournament (6 players): Magnus Carlsen, Hikaru Nakamura, Gukesh Dommaraju, Arjun Erigaisi, Fabiano Caruana, Wei Yi
  • Most points, America (Hikaru+Fabiano) vs India (Erigaisi + Gukesh) — we gotta stoke the competitive nature, eh (#968945) @Coinsreporter
  • The Showdown/head-to-head: Magnus Carlsen vs Gukesh (most points in their two games; or just win-loss-draw in the head-to-head in the classical segments etc). I'm not sure what makes most sense; you're the bet experts.
What's really exciting about this is that it's the first time Carlsen — hands-down the best player, probably in chess history — is facing the newly minted world champion (a title Carlsen didn't bother defending), Gukesh in classical chess, i.e. long time controls (120 minutes+increments).
Carlsen came of a 9/9 perfect score in Freestyle (different format) classical tournament in France, so he's definitely coming in hot.
My god, this will be exciting.
Sorry, I missed this post. Does following market look good?
Market: Norway Chess 2025

Lovely, made some bets!
Can I get greedy and ask for a Magnus-Gukesh head-to-head result, too?
The Showdown/head-to-head: Magnus Carlsen vs Gukesh (most points in their two games; or just win-loss-draw in the head-to-head in the classical segments etc). I'm not sure what makes most sense; you're the bet experts.

Magnus-Gukesh head-to-head
h2h will be easier:
"Magnus vs Gukesh: Who wins?"
Magnus: YES/NO Draw: YES/NO Gukesh: YES/NO
Please give me exact date-time for the game/match.
reply
I don't think they have released the exact dates yet, i.e. who plays who in which round. (https://norwaychess.no/en/schedule-and-ticket-information/)
But they're playing two classical games against each other in the tournament. (And then if those games are drawn, they'll play Rapid armaggedon tie-break; regulations are weird:)
We could do what you proposed, only consider the classical games and with "best of two"
"Magnus vs Gukesh: Who wins?" Magnus: YES/NO Draw: YES/NO Gukesh: YES/NO
reply
so,
  • resolves to Magnus YES if Magnus wins one game and draws the second; or wins both games
  • resolves to draw YES if both classical games are drawn
  • resolves to Gukesh YES if Gukesh wins one game and draws the second; or wins both.

Excellent resolutions criteria. I just refined it with AI, let me know, if this is ok:
🧩 Resolution Criteria
This market is based on the outcome of the two classical games between Magnus Carlsen and Gukesh Dommaraju in the specified event.
The market will resolve as follows:
  • Magnus = YES
If Magnus Carlsen wins at least one of the two classical games and does not lose either.
(Win + Draw or Win + Win)
  • Draw = YES
If both classical games are drawn.
  • Gukesh = YES
If Gukesh Dommaraju wins at least one of the two classical games and does not lose either.
(Win + Draw or Win + Win)
If neither of the above outcomes is satisfied (e.g., each player wins one game), this market will resolve to “Invalid.”
Only the classical games between the two players will be considered. Rapid, blitz, or tiebreaker games (if any) are excluded.
The primary resolution source will be https://www.chess.com and official event reporting. A consensus of credible reporting may also be used in case of ambiguity.
Sounds like fun. I would put some sats on a chess market.
@NEEDcreations used to have a chess territory here on SN.

too bad, where did he go??
reply
He is still around. He just doesn’t run the territory anymore. He participates in some of the sports pools.
