Articles like this are basically catnip for me. I knew about a lot of use cases (ATMs, etc), but wasn't aware of the use in old art and some of the other stuff they mention. Lots of fun (and I say this as someone who has hated Windows his entire life in every iteration).

I booted up an old Dell Latitude laptop from 2005 and it ran just fine on XP. Was actually quick and responsive.

It was a much simpler time when operating systems weren't thin clients for the internet.
I wonder how much lost productivity Microsoft's forced-upgrade business model has caused for business too. They could have stopped at NT5.x and the world would have been better for it.
