I'm probably a minimally annoying atheist, actually, since I've come to respect religion as a social institution and am legitimately interested in theology.
However, I'm sure I was plenty annoying about it when I was younger.
Now, I have to settle for being annoying about pretty much everything else.
Youth, or more accurately (been proven to me recently) maturity is the deeper issue as well as agreeableness. Young men with low agreeableness and higher intelligence are pretty annoying. What is sad is when someone is not young and they have never matured socially enough to realize that they aren't all that. That they set a ceiling on their growth by their perspective being so dogmatic. When they lack curiosity.
The more I have studied people including myself the more I realize how much we have in common. We are deeply flawed and religious people have the same flaws. We can all learn if we are open to it.
