How did you discover SN? I discovered Stacker News through a Bitcoin and Lightning Network community. I was looking for a place to learn more, share ideas, and connect with people who truly understand the space.
Was it hard to get started? Any feedback? It wasn't too hard, but some things were a bit unclear at first — like how rewards work and how to link a Lightning wallet. After reading the FAQs and exploring a bit, it all started to make more sense. One piece of feedback would be to make the wallet setup and the difference between Cowboy Credits and sats more obvious for new users.
How much Lightning experience do you have? I'm still a beginner, but I’ve been learning a lot. I've used Lightning wallets like Wallet of Satoshi and Phoenix, and I’ve started experimenting with running my own node and opening channels to get hands-on experience.
Have you read the FAQs? Yes, and they were super helpful! I think every new user should go through them, they clarify a lot, especially about how voting works and the difference between CCs and sats.
Did you realize you need to attach a wallet to receive sats? Yes! I thought that was a really cool feature. The Lightning integration is a big strength of the platform, and it helped me understand how micropayments can work in a real-world setting.
Do you understand the difference between Cowboy Credits (CCs) and sats? Yes. Cowboy Credits are kind of like internal points used for voting and interacting on the platform, while sats are actual Bitcoin you can withdraw or use elsewhere. It makes sense to separate them for functionality and clarity.
How was your first week on SN? It was a great experience. I found lots of valuable content, thoughtful discussions, and a helpful community. I felt welcomed, and I’m excited to keep learning and contributing.

Sorry for the late reply. You can actually use CCs for everything you could use sats for. It's for people who don't want to or can't attach a lightning wallet.
The sats you can withdraw are from rewards, but you can't zap them. You can only zap CCs or sats from your own wallet.

If you'll allow me @ek, after my 15 days here at SN, I'd like to highlight some suggestions that I believe could further improve the experience here:
Creating a group on SN's Facebook. I think that with a group, it would be easier to discuss ideas, make suggestions and share useful content to improve SN.
It would also be very interesting to have a chat between users, so that they can exchange private messages, make friends and collaborate more directly.
I'd like to take this opportunity to thank you for your competence and congratulate you on your excellent work with SN.

We are not on Facebook and we don't intend to be afaik (/cc @k00b).

Why would it be easier on Facebook to discuss ideas, make suggestions and share useful content to improve SN instead of on SN itself like you just did?
It would also be very interesting to have a chat between users, so that they can exchange private messages, make friends and collaborate more directly.
This is planned!

Thank you, and thank you for thinking about how to improve SN!
