Im interested to hear y’all’s thoughts on this. Given that the end was uncovered it makes me think about Dustin Fowler’s lawsuit against the White Sox when in his first game in the bigs he crashed into an unpadded electrical box and blew his knee up. That from what I can find was settled out of court and sealed.
With Ruf… not to be rude… but he was 36 when this happened and had recently signed with the Brewers after being cut from the Giants. He wasn’t exactly smoking the ball but is opens up the box of is this a risk players assume when they take the field or not
Odd. It will be interesting to see how the lawsuit plays out.

I feel like the White Sox lawsuit might have hinted at what we should expect with unprotected things…. Undisclosed and sealed settlement

He was 36, but even end of career players often get a year or two at millions per year, and since this wasn't an injury caused by the normal risks of playing (HBP, sliding, etc), I suspect he's going to get a nice chunk in a settlement, just like Fowler.

The rumor of Fowlers was it was pretty huge given he was a rookie and literally in the first play of the first game. Ruf was playing on a Veterans minimum so at best I could see him getting a couple of million tops.
