A major power outage hit the area around the French Rivera resort of Cannes on Saturday, the final day of the city’s film festival, though organisers said the closing ceremony would not be affected.
The cause of the power cut, which began just after 10:00 am (0800 GMT), is unknown. Grid operator RTE said 160,000 homes had been affected.

Whoa, this feels like déjà vu — kinda like the big outage in Spain not long ago. Wild timing too, right on the final day of the Cannes Film Festival. You’d think the grid would be bulletproof during a global event like that... Curious if this is just infrastructure stress or something deeper going on. Either way, 160k homes down is no small blip. Hope they get it sorted faster than when it happened in Spain.
