Now that you bring this, I remember listening to the radio as a kid while my team was playing. At that time, matches weren't available live on TV so you only could listen to them in the radio.
Matchs looked like very intense and enjoyable just listening to the radio commentator . At night, you could watch the highlights in the sports program. You could imagine how disappointed I was most of the time as the highlights were only 2-3 minutes out of 90 minutes. These days you can watch most of them and, to be honest, some of them are quite boring.

I used to listen to Canucks games occasionally on the radio during the late 2000s early 2010s when they were good. I was surprised at how quiet the arena could sometime get when I went to my first Canucks game. And watching the game in person without the play by play commentary just feels that something is missing.
