In its homeland, the Singapura was called the "sewer cat" because it most often found shelter in the sewers. The small breed of cat, once considered a nuisance, has become extremely popular throughout North America and Europe.

History of the Singapura Cat Hal Meadows brought his specimens, these small "sewer cats", from Singapore to the States in the early 1970s. Sheila and Brad Bowers developed this SPCA-approved cat breed.
