Your node is your personal property, so there's not really anybtubg your 'should/n't' do with it. That said, you can run a node on any pc with a network connection and ~7GB of storage. The important thing is that it is synced to the network when you are verifying transactions. Syncing the entire network takes a significant amount of time now (could be >1 week last I checked depending on your hardware).
