I honestly am trying to figure out if this is going to be called a win or a loss.... If the states suing end up losing they have now created a way for Musk to stick around past the temporary appointment he is under which ends well in the next couple of days if I am recalling correctly. The fall out from this also continues for future Admins on either side of the aisle. Republicans for instance will be quick to go after future Climate or Global Warming Advisors who also have an enormous reach across government departments.
Looking at this suit one of the big things that sticks out to me is that it isnt going to stop or reverse anything that has been done. With the reconciliation bill moving forward that will enact some of these cuts and the markups of the government spending announced for June and July these lawsuits to overturn various spending pauses and cuts wont matter because by the time they get through the courts the money will be gone.
We saw this with the probationary employee firings where they rehired a bunch of them for a single day to fire them all again a different way to make everyone happy. It caused the government to expend more resources for less than if those people had just been allowed to move on.
Is the issue with giving him a real appointment, just a bunch of financial ramifications for Musk?
reply
My understanding is that they are trying to pin him to a position that they Senate should have had to either approve or have more oversite of. Because his position was temp (less than 180 days) it wasnt put up to the level of scrutiny that others are.

I see. 180 days shouldn’t come up until next month, should it?
reply
I believe it is the end of this month maybe the beginning of next which is why you have seen all the Musk talk about leaving Washington.... it all kinda tracks and make sense
reply
I remember something about it being the end of this month, but it’s only been four months.

It just dawned on me its 120 days so four months! My bad!
