Elon Musk’s remote work stance just got fuzzier. High-paying roles now open to global applicants.
Tesla just posted a wave of fully remote job listings, including positions that pay as much as $270,000 annually. For a company (and CEO) famously against remote work, this is surprising.
Some of the standout roles:
:🛠️ Senior Engineer Energy Systems:
$79K–$270K/year 5+ years experience in SCADA, relays, and power systems. Knows DNP3, Modbus, Linux/Windows Remote, with some travel
🤖 AI Trainer for Tesla’s Humanoid Robots:
~$6,000/month Robotics + AI testing background 100% remote
This could signal a more pragmatic hiring shift, especially in deep tech roles. Or maybe it’s a one-off to attract rare global talent.
What do you think? Is this the beginning of a real change at Tesla, or just an exception for specialized hires?
Just an exception in my opinion
reply
Could be, but it’s definitely worth watching even if it’s just for specialized roles now, it shows Tesla can bend on remote work when the talent pool demands it. Might not signal a company wide shift yet but it cracks the door open.

It's cool

Yeah being anti-remote work is just random stuff he says to get approval from the republican base. He knows that it doesn't make sense, especially on roles that you cannot find easily in your own country.

Totally agree It’s hard to ignore the practicality of remote work when you're trying to recruit top tier talent in ultra specialized fields like robotics or SCADA systems.
