The American will be delighted with that and even more delighted with the crowd's reaction. Quiet.
You can tell the french crowd wants to get into it but they haven't had much to cheer for yet. Lois Boisson will have wanted to win that service game and get the crowd into it. But Gauff is very technically sound and complete as a player, even her volleys are picture perfect. I think this is her best surface.
