Today, they are at public war over a billion-dollar bill, subsidies for electric cars and… a lot of ego.
The dispute escalated quickly and involved ironies, old prints and a campaign to overturn the project.
Trump was asked today about Musk's criticism of the new spending package and responded:
“Elon is mad because we removed the electric car requirement.”
“I also said no to the name he wanted to nominate for NASA.”
“We had a great relationship, I don’t know if we still do.”
“But I am right about this “great big beautiful bill.”
📌 What was this requirement for electronic cars?
A Biden administration rule that required automakers to accelerate production of electric cars.
Trump's bill cancels this measure — which directly affects Elon Musk's Tesla.
Elon reacted immediately.
“False, this bill was never shown to me even once and it was passed in the middle of the night so quickly that almost no one in Congress even managed to read it!”
Afterwards, he criticized the content of the project.
“Keep the EV/solar incentive cuts, even if the oil and gas subsidies are left untouched (so unfair!!), but remove the MOUNTAIN of disgusting spending from the project.”
And he went for irony.
Trump said the project was big and beautiful.
Elon retorted:
“In the history of civilization, there has never been a law that was both grand and beautiful.”
“You either have a big, horrible project, or a small, beautiful one.”
And he also sent:
“Slim Beautiful Bill for the win.”
(Something like: victory for the small and pretty bill)
Elon dug up an old tweet from Trump himself.
In 2013, he said:
“I can’t believe Republicans are extending the debt ceiling. I’m a Republican and I’m embarrassed!”
Elon just replied:
“Wise words.”
Where is this bullshit going to end?
Musk closed by asking:
“Where is this guy today?”
