In Malawi, mainstream education is held in high esteem. For many, it represents a path out of poverty, a gateway to employment, and a symbol of success. Parents and guardians make great sacrifices to ensure their children attend school, with the hope that one day, they will secure formal jobs and uplift their families. However, this hope, rests on a broken promise.
